MISS UNIVERSE COSTUME DESIGN (2018-2019)

This fabric was designed and printed digitally in a repeat camouflage pattern of the American continent, alongside acrylic printed earrings in the shape of the inverted continent. The garments were sewn into various garments that bend gender and cross the line between the military and beauty pageantry costumes, both which have large cultural prevalence in Venezuela. Miss Universe is a persona that recurred with multiple iterations in performances from 2017-2019 to reflect on the hybrid identities that emerge from migration. These costumes were created in Mexico City during the Lab Residency Program, and were used during a performance in Buenos Aires at Proyecto ACE.
